Statue-of-Liberty-National-Monument (SLNS), a symbol of New York and also one of the world famous works. To New York, you must visit SLNS. Definitely like that, no matter what the weather is….
And I went there on a dim, cold day of the American winter.
When I woke up in the morning, I lazily did personal hygiene and took a bath. This cold winter weather like just sleeping all morning is like it. But I don’t have much time in New York. Outside, the sky is still dark. A thin layer of snow covered the cars parked outside. Last night, maybe it was snowing lightly.
I walked out in the cold of the morning as always. New York is colder than DC and the snow is thicker. The car drove me round and round many roads and bridges. Outdoor is especially blind and murky. Get off the bus, my mom and I walked into a park before we got to the point of buying tickets to get to the island with the goddess statue. The weather was so bad that morning. It was not cold enough to fall snow, but instead it was raindrops on the face, more barbaric than drizzles in the cold spring weather in Hanoi.
After buying tickets, my mother and I stood in the waiting area waiting until the train arrived. It was not time to enter the waiting room, so my mother and I had to stand in the waiting area outside, with every roof, nothing else to cover. I just had to jump up constantly for warm people. After getting into the waiting room, everything was better. However, before boarding the train, all passengers must undergo a strict security check, with a scanner from here and there as if preparing to board the plane. I thought to myself, “Well, your country is also worried about terrorism, especially to protect SLNS, so it is a good test.” Later I went to some other relics in the world such as the Taj Mahal and had to undergo such strict security checks.
The train began to leave the port to SLNS in the middle of the sea. It was a small ship, but not enough to carry about 100 people. There is a miscellaneous food stall on the train and tea and coffee. I bought her a cup of hot tea to keep it cool. Occasionally, there are birds flying in and out of the ship floor to avoid chilling or waiting for visitors to feed.
When the ship was close to the goddess statue, I called my mother out to the deck to take photos. That SLNS, where I used to wish to see. If it was sunny, the view would be very beautiful. The ship got closer and approached the pier. SLNS far away, no more steps.
Upon arrival, we continued to undergo another security check before entering the giant statue. Visitors come here to be divided into 2 groups. One group climbed to the top of the statue. A group can only get on the statue halfway. I asked the guard to tell me that now I want to go to the top of the statue. He replied: “I have to book online before 3 months”, this is a pity! But anyway, to the top during this cloudy sky, there is not much to see. Me and my mother went around to see the museum in the statue. The exhibits exhibit explaining the process of creation and construction of the statue. There are copies of faces, feet and torches on the statues of their true size.
I’m still a little regretful because I didn’t get here at some time the weather was better. Before leaving the island, I tried to circumnavigate the statue at the foot of the statue again to be able to take a panoramic view of this famous landmark. The space of the park and outdoor cafĂ© is also very beautiful. Especially when the furniture here is covered with a layer of white snow that looks beautiful and romantic.
